In the highly anticipated Dunki vs Salaar box office showdown, it appears that we might already have a clear winner!
Prabhas appears to be making a highly anticipated comeback with his latest film, the action-thriller Salaar. Directed by Prashanth Neel, this pan-India movie is currently in a box office showdown against Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki, surpassing it by a significant margin. While Dunki debuted with an opening day collection of around Rs 30 crore, Salaar has already amassed over Rs 135 crore in advance sales for its first day, which happens to be today.
As per Homable Films, the production company behind Salaar, the movie secured 30.5 lakh advance ticket sales, accumulating a total of Rs 95 crore from pre-bookings alone. By 7 pm on Friday, the film had grossed Rs 135 crore in India and amassed a global gross of Rs 175 crore.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki is facing an uphill battle due to somewhat lukewarm reviews and underwhelming box office returns, which might hinder its long-term impact. Dunki generated significant fan excitement but fell slightly below box office expectations. Despite being the sole mid-week release, the film achieved an estimated net collection of around Rs 30 crores, as reported on Sacnilk.com. The movie marked Shah Rukh’s lowest opening of the year, trailing behind Jawan and Pathaan, and even fell short of director Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju.
Dunki
“Dunki” narrates the comic journey of four friends hailing from a Punjab town, united by their shared aspiration to journey to England. Their hurdle lies in the absence of both a visa and the financial means to purchase plane tickets. However, their fate takes a turn when a soldier pledges to accompany them to their dream destination. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, and Boman Irani, this film, crafted by the pen and direction of Raj Kumar Hirani, promises an intriguing narrative.
